🏛️ Circuits & Routes
Machu Picchu’s visit system is organized into 3 main circuits (Panoramic, Classic and Royal) with 10 sub-routes that require visitors to book specific tickets, designed to manage tourist flow and preserve the site.
Alternate routes: Machu Picchu Mountain (Circuit 1A) and Huayna Picchu (Circuit 3A) each have a defined circuit to follow. When booking any of these circuits it is recommended to book an additional entry to Machu Picchu so passengers can do the long circuit route.
High season circuits: Circuits 1C, 1D, 3C and 3D, are only available in High Season, from June 19 to November 1st.
✔️Tips for choosing a Circuit:
- For the most complete experience: Choose Circuit 2 (2-A or 2-B) which includes the classic viewpoint and full exploration of the ruins.
- For adventurers: Consider Circuit 1-A (Machu Picchu Mountain) or 3-A (Wayna Picchu) for challenging treks.
- For short visits: Circuit 1-B is perfect for getting the classic photo in a short time.
- To avoid crowds: Circuits with additional treks (1-A, 1-C, 1-D, 3-A, 3-C, 3-D) tend to have fewer visitors.
📍 Entry and visit regulations:
- Tickets are tied to a specific circuit and route with maximum visit time.
- Passengers must enter the site within the time slot indicated in their entry. There is a tolerance of thirty minutes.
- Passengers must follow the designated route in their entry ticket; it is not possible to change circuit routes.
- Machu Picchu tickets do not allow changes of name or date, only the ID number can be changed in case you obtain a new document before traveling.
- Once entered, passengers cannot exit and re-enter with the same ticket.
- The visit has a maximum duration of 3 hours. But the guided tour has a duration between 2 hours and 2 hours and a half; after the guided tour passengers might go out of the site or stay more time on their own, but within their selected circuit.
- Groups will have a maximum of 10 people (9 visitors and a guide).
- If passengers want to do a second visit it is not necessary to hire a guide.
- Children rates:
- Children under 3, enter free.
- Children (3–17) receive reduced pricing (must send passport copy).
- Students (18–25) get a youth discount with valid ISIC (university IDs are not accepted)
